The focus of this work was to look both at the individual effects of alcohol use including the expense and the social and family implications. In the nearest approach to PSHE that I recognised, young people looked at peer influences and role modelling. The outreach workers run courses for the adults who young people are likely to meet in their 'out of the home' lives, such as shop staff, bar staff, bus and train staff and police officers. Other 'PSHE' messages included that it is OK to ask for help; and that it' s OK to 'tell' on a classmate who is having problems arising from - or reflected in - their behaviour, including alcohol use.
