Denmark
The Danish education system is good at multi-agency working. This happens through
regular cross-agency meetings in schools where school and pupil issues are discussed.
These meetings are part of the teachers' basic timetable. What in Denmark is
fundamental, reflecting the recognition of the need for social and affective
support for young people as well as their academic needs, is currently an 'add-on'
in England.
The Danish school
system is less constrained by a prescriptive curriculum and can therefore
respond more easily to immediate demands, needs and opportunities, including
the whole range of social issues and education of which drug education forms
a part.
